Valentine Cookie's

Valentine
Arrow
Cookie's

First you have to go to the last picture and start with the number 1.) and work your way up the photo's. I put them in wrong and don't know how to rearrange them in the right order.

6.) The picture of the completed cookies are from the Wilton web site. I will wrap all my arrow cookies in saran wrap and then put them in zip lock bags to freeze until closer to Valentine's Day. I will then take them out of the freezer and decorate them for gifts.

5.) The cookie on the right has been baked...the cookie on the left will be going in the oven.

4.) use a craft stick to connect both sides of the arrow

3.) Cut the side's off of one of the hearts to make the 'feather end' of the arrow cookie

2.) Using a cookie cutter, cut out two hearts

1.) Make a sugar cookie recipe and roll out dough

Roll-Out Cookies (sugar cookie recipe)

Preheat oven to 375*

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

In bowl cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and extracts.

Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture one cup at a time, mixing after each addition.

Divide dough into two balls.

On floured surface roll each ball into a circle approximately 12 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick.

Dip cookie cutter in flour before each use.

Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheet at 375* for 8-10 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned.

* TIP*
I use parchment paper on my cookie sheet

Making cookie pops

I know I didn't get these photo's in the right order...still trying to figure out how to work the blogging thing..lol..but you can get the idea.
So here ya go if you want to make some Cookie Pops.
It's really easy to make these. Just use a sugar cookie recipe and any type of cut outs you want. I will be using hearts next month for Valentine's Day...and Easter Egg cut outs come Easter.
You can get the sticks at any craft store and you just bake them right in the cookie. Very simple. After you get your cookies out of the oven you can decorate them.
The icing I used here is just
one cup powdered sugar ,
two teaspoons light corn syrup
two teaspoons milk
...until I got it as thinned out as I wanted. You can add more corn syrup a teaspoon at a time to get the consistency that you want.
Pour the icing over the cookies and let it dry. You can tint the icing with food coloring if you don't want white icing. Like I did with the Santa.
After they dry you can use Royal Icing to decorate.
Royal Icing Recipe
3 Tablespoons Wilton Meringue Powder
(you can get it where you get the sticks in the craft store...
I got my stuff at Michael's )
4 cups powdered sugar
6 Tablespoon water
Beat all ingredients at low speed for 7-10 minutes until icing forms peaks.
Once they are all dried I wrap them in cellophane and ribbon. They make great last minute gifts. You can freeze the cookies before you decorate them for a couple of months. When you need them you can just take them out and decorate.

My First Blog

This is my first time blogging. My wonderful son-in-law Bart sent me the info to get this started. Not much to write at the moment...but knowing me I will have a lot to say in the future.
I know that I will have cooking tips on here once I get the hang of blogging.
Just to let you know something about me.
I'm a stay at home house wife living in Denver, Colorado ....a San Diego transplant, that will be hitting the 60 year mark this summer. I have a wonderful husband that I have been married to for almost seven years. We have known each other since we were 12 years old. We lived across the street from each other in Santee , CA. We both went to the same Jr. High and High School.
We lost touch when we were 19 and got back in touch in March of 2002 through a class mate of ours. We married in August of 2002 and have been extremely happy ever since. I don't know if it's because we grew up together or what...but we really "get" each other. Not only can we finish each other's sentence's ,but a lot of the time when one is thinking of something the other will say it out loud. This will happen several times during the day.
Of course our sense of humor keeps us going during any rough patches as it does most of us on this planet.
Anyway, this is the start of my blog.
